Katia Santa Cruz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts for Theatrical Expression from the University of Guadalajara. Originally from Aguascalientes, she is currently based in Guadalajara, Mexico.

She has developed her career as a stage actress in productions such as IMPOZTORAS: fraude en escena (2023) with Teatro Nómada, directed by Paloma Domínguez; Xen-etYca (2019) by Colectivo De Todo… Teatro, directed by Renato Polo; Woyzeck (work in progress) (2018), directed by Fernando Sakanassi, Karla Constantini, and Emmanuel Becerra; Serendipia (2016) and Poesía en movimiento. El giro del destino (2015), both directed by Toto Cortés.

As a performer, she has participated in ÁCIDAS (2023), directed by Karen García, and Moby Dick or The White Whale (2022), directed by Maricel Álvarez and Emilio García Wehbi.

On camera, she has appeared in student short films such as Mundo Violeta (2022) and La última llamada (2021), as well as in music videos including Basureta Kase (2019) and Unending (2018).

In 2022, she participated in her first artistic residency with Maricel Álvarez and Emilio García Wehbi, where the durational performance Moby Dick or The White Whale was created. In 2023, she completed an artistic residency in Barcelona at Nau Ivanow, where the stage production IMPOZTORAS: fraude en escena was developed.

That same year, she received the Focus de Body grant for the videodance piece ÁCIDAS, which has been presented at several festivals and showcases, including the Festival Internacional de Danza Jalisco, the 8th Mexico City Video Dance Festival, the National Dance Encounter 2023, and the Totatiche Videodance Showcase 2024.
