Ismael Tonatihu Saguilan Acevedo (Acapulco, Guerrero – 1995), better known only as Tonatihu Saguilan, is a Mexican contemporary and folklore dancer. His experience began in 2017 when he moved to the great City of Mexico in search of stage experience.
Always driven by passion and by the search for Afro-Mexican representation in commercial and artistic projects; He has been part of the Ballet Folklorico de Amalia Hernández, of the contemporary dance and visual art project “Nohbords”, under the direction of Diego Vega Solorza, and also of various music videos by artists such as Rüfus Du Sol, Ely Guerra, and Lido Pimienta.
He continues his path with the exploration of his artistic work in conjunction with other disciplines, which led him to act in the short film “I Feel Love” directed by Pedro Lavin.
Among his most outstanding works is the work “Landscapes” a work by Diego Vega Solorza in collaboration with the painter Ana Segovia, in which he served as a dancer and soloist.
In 2020 he was featured as one of the 45+ young avant-gardes from around the world by Vogue Mexico magazine.
He has collaborated with different media such as ELLE México, King Kong Garcon, and Bad Hombre Magazine; with brands such as Ivy Park x Adidas México, Bose, Tequila Patrón, Nike, and with the following directors, Santiago Sierra Soler, Santiago Limón, Tom Gustafson, Dario Yazbek Bernal, Vincent Haycock, and Bradley & Pablo.
